One grand prize winner will receive a year's worth of free groceries from Whole Foods, Fresh Grocer or Shop Rite. Ten first-prize winners will each receive 12 monthly Septa transit passes. Twenty second prize winners will receive a $100 gift card from Target.
Philly Spring Cleanup a success
The Fifth Annual Philly Spring Cleanup was held on April 14 and was the city's most successful cleanup yet. Over 350 projects attracted volunteers from every neighborhood in the city. More than a million pounds of trash was collected in addition to 40,000 pounds of recycleable material that was diverted from the waste stream. Over 4,800 recycling bins were also handed out to city residents. The 12,115 volunteers who participated made this a truly record-setting event. Thanks to all of you who came out to help make our city a cleaner, more beautiful place!
The Dirt Factory coming to University City
A new community composting facility is coming to University City. The new facility -- The Dirt Factory -- hopes to transform University City food waste by combining it with the fallen leaves that cover our streets and sidewalks each fall. The grand opening is set for Wednesday, June 20 from 4-6pm. You'll be able to tour the new facility while also enjoying complimentary food and drinks. Hope to see you out there!
